Hi there, if you're visiting this post that means that you're wanting to help improve your business. I'm here to tell you, if you're not time blocking it can lead to disorganization! No one wants to work with a disorganized Realtor, which is why it's a great idea to time block!
What is time blocking? Time blocking is scheduling events and activities from the time you wake up, to the time you go to bed. Everyone does it differently, but this is how I choose to do it. Doing it this way allows me to schedule appointments accordingly and helps with having respect for my time. Many successful business owners utilize time blocking, and I'm sure you can too!
What does time blocking look like? Personally, I use google calendar. I schedule my personal and work activities. It's important to schedule personal activities and work activities to make sure that you have time for yourself. Here is what every Monday looks like for me:
6:00am - wake up
6:15am - work out
7:15am - get ready for the day
8:30am - morning meeting
9:00am - check MLS for new listings
9:15am - check in on my customers
11:00am - meeting
12:00pm - lunch
1:00pm - meeting
2:00pm - business strategy
4:00pm - make dinner
6:00pm - start making bread
7:00pm - get ready for bed
In google calendar, I also add tasks that need to be completed throughout the day. Any extra time I have will go into these tasks. For example, if I finish checking in on my customers early, I'll do one of my daily tasks. This ensures that I am not sidetracking, and I'm having a productive day.
If you can't get it done, reschedule, don't cancel. Things happen, I get it. Maybe one day your client's availability is limited and you need to be flexible. As long as you reschedule your task, it's alright. The goal is to get things done, not to have a strict schedule here. At the end of the day you have to get done what needs to be done in your business, but make sure you always reschedule your events/activities.
